About
Engaging with memory and everyday glimpses of a colourful symbolic world, my paintings address the notion of the work as a ‘transmuted’ self portrait.
They accrue found objects, materials and images in such a way that unconscious connections are made and discovered. Areas of tension are created by a clash of cultural references – from today’s glittering hub of post-modernity to Byzantine altars of the 15th century.
As polyptiques these works spark a fragmented conversation – between narrative form and the psychological states hinted at through the painterly process.
My paintings are a constructed reality mediated by my vision of the world.
